Child Safe mode

Child Safe Mode is a secure mechanism in our child app to restrict access of inappropriate apps installed on a child’s device. This enables a Kiosk Mode in which a child can use selected apps (apps that are separate from the Hello Genius child app) chosen by their parent or guardian and located within the parent app. A parent user manages the apps a child is allowed to use in Safe Mode within the, “Device Details” page within the parent app.

Note: Please note that the Hello Genius system cannot presently define a third party app’s appropriateness for children. App selection is under the discretion of a parent user. We ask that parents or guardians decide which apps are allowed on a child’s device under the Child Safe Mode setting. Currently, Hello Genius does not recommend a specific third party app’s safety for children.

By opening up the child app on a child’s device, the Child Safe Mode is enabled by default. The child user enters the app in Child Safe Mode as soon as he or she clicks on the, “Start” button. This is shown on the screen on the right

child app login password
The child app login password is a part of the user authentication process of the Hello Genius system. The child user is first created by the parent user within the parent app. The default child user credentials are created by the Hello Genius system in a way that requires the child user to only use the password to log into the child app. Read more about the default login password. Please refer to the screenshot below, which showcases the login screen.

Login Password vs Child Safe Mode Exit Password
Login and Child Safe Mode Passwords serve two different purposes to users within the child app:
• Login Password
This is a general user authentication password to enter into the child app and use. The user needs to enter a valid password for authentication to enter into the child app.
• Child Safe Mode Exit Password
This is the authentication password meant for a parent user for the child app. The Child Safe Mode starts as soon as a child starts utilizing the child app on a device. A Child Safe Mode Exit Password is to be used to exit the Child Safe Mode and return the device back to a normal mode where all installed apps on that device can be accessed by any device user.
